I accept referrals directly from parents/carers. If you are concerned about your child's progress with learning, or their emotional well-being I would be happy to discuss your child’s needs and how I can help.
Assessment

For children and young people who have difficulties with learning I undertake in depth individual assessments to identify strengths and barriers to learning to inform recommendations for support in school. The assessment process usually includes the following:

  • reviewing background information
  • a lesson observation
  • direct assessment with the child or young person
  • liaison with other professionals involved (if appropriate)
  • a joint consultation with school and family to discuss outcomes and implications for support
  • a detailed report that records the assessment information and recommendations

Please note assessments are usually carried out in school, unless in exceptional circumstances. 

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is an evidence based therapeutic approach which has been shown to be effective in supporting emotional well-being and addressing difficulties such as anxiety and low mood. A CBT intervention is typically delivered through weekly sessions lasting up to one hour each. The length of a CBT intervention varies according to individual need but typically last for 8 sessions. Sessions can be held in school, at the Self Centre, Bury St Edmunds or The Space, Burston.
